‘At GKN Fokker Aerostructures I am team lead for the Materials&Processes – Metallics & Metals Bonding team. Next to this function, I support M2i as Program Manager from mid-April of this year onwards.

I graduated at MSc level in the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) department of the Mechanical Engineering (ME) Faculty of Delft University of Technology, and additionally completed a PhD in aluminium extrusion, investigating solid bonding phenomena in the hot extrusion process, with the aim of the improving the mechanical properties of hollow parts for structural applications.

Over a period of more than 30 years I have held several functions in the light metals industry and associated knowledge institutes, supporting light metals development, metals processing optimisation and product development for various industries, such as transportation (automotive, rail, aerospace) and civil infrastructure. My roles have covered hands-on experimental activities up to leading R&D teams in metallics innovation projects.

In my career, I have had the opportunity to closely interact with universities and research institutes, engaging in collaborative projects for improvement of light metals manufacturing processes and the realisation of innovative high-performance products.
