Weak position of Europe to address materials scarcity (dependent from China)
Lack of coordination of national RTD efforts: stategy; funding programmes
Materials research = addressing materials scarcity

ERA-MIN Project:
14 organisations funding RTD on materials in Europe joined efforts to overcome the current fragmentation of minerals research
Joint Research roadmap & related Joint Calls:
Primary resources: exploration; extraction; metallurgy
Secondary resources (recycling)
Substitution

Results:
Common Research Roadmap on non-energy raw materials, addressing the entire EU value chain on short, medium and long term; M2i coordinated the Substitution research agenda
Joint Research Roadmap and two Joint Calls generated, leveraging >10M euro for raw materials research in Europe (national budgets, three joint calls generated in 2013; 2014 and 2015)
