On the 3rd and 4th of June the TRIATHLON project team gathered for the M18 consortium meeting in the vibrant city of Vienna, hosted by consortium partner Lithoz. The meeting brought all partners together, the two-day session focused on reviewing progress, aligning priorities, and planning the path ahead.
The consortium reviewed updates and discussed updates on Work Packages progress presented by technical leads, defined a clear plan for upcoming deliverables and activities, and engaged in collective brainstorming on key open questions critical to the project’s success.
Partners contributed to thoughtful dialogues and strategic planning—driving home a collective commitment to:
✔ Strengthening collaboration across the consortium
✔ Maintaining steady progress toward impactful results
Day one concluded with a tour of Lithoz’s facilities, where partners were introduced to the company’s work in ceramic 3D printing and cutting-edge technologies that support TRIATHLON’s objectives. We thank Lithoz for the warm hospitality! Together, the TRIATHLON consortium is making steady strides toward clean, hydrogen-based solutions for the aviation sector.

About TRIATHLON:
In response to the global call for reduced carbon emissions in the aviation industry, TRIATHLON will lead the charge by developing robust, low-maintenance, and low-emission hydrogen-electric powertrains for megawatt-class aircraft.
Project Highlights:
- Overcoming scaling challenges in hydrogen powertrain tech;
- Disruptive approaches for more responsive powertrains;
- Implementation of NOx reduction strategies;
- Innovative heat exchangers using materials like ceramics;
- Elimination of cryogenic pumps for a more robust fuel distribution system.
The project is the result of the cooperation between a consortium made of universities, SMEs and industries coming from 6 different countries. M2i will be the project coordinator, TU Delft the technical lead and AMIRES the dissemination lead. The full consortium consist of Technische Universität Dresden, Ergon Research, Sabancı Üniversitesi, Cryomotive GmbH and Lithoz.
The project is funded by the European Union and CINEA – European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency
