Project Description
Objectives:
- Identify and quantify all relevant aspects of dimensional changes due to phase transformations in bearings. The hardened steels applied in precision products like bearings are sensitive to dimensional changes on exposure to stress and elevated temperature.
M2i project:
- Study on phase transformation mechanism as function of temperature and stress.
Industrial benefits:
- M2i’s research results refined the propriety SKF model to predict dimensional change at specific working conditions.
- Ability to provide SKF’s customers about the right bearing application at elevated stress and temperature.
- SKF’s bearing business is 3 billion euro.
