M2i and TNO have been granted a contract for a research project concerning the use of critical materials in the Dutch technological industry. Critical materials are those materials for which there is a large dependency on imports, which are crucial for the functions and properties of products and for which there are no easy alternatives available.
Critical
The project aims at making an overview of which critical materials are used and in which quantities. Accordingly, future problem areas in material availability and costs of raw material will be indicated. The critical materials defined are mostly metals, but may also include phosphorus, gold and uranium. Starting point of the research will be the list of critical materials defined by the EU.
M2i will cooperate in this research with the faculty of Industrial Design of the Technical University Delft. This research project has been initiated by the FME/CWM and is financed by Agentschap NL.
