roadmap materialsOn 23 December 2011 the roadmaps from the topteam High Tech Systems & Materials (HTSM) - collected in an innovation contract and a human capital agenda - were published and handed to Maxime Verhagen, minister of Economic Affairs, Agriculture & Innovation (EA&I). On 16 January, the innovation contracts of the ten top sectors were sent to the Dutch House of Representatives by Verhagen.

Letters of Intent
Together with TNO, NLR and NWO, M2i has developed the roadmap High Tech Materials, one of the 15 roadmaps collected in the innovation contract of the topsector HTSM. As support for the roadmap High Tech Materials M2i received from industry more than 40 Letters of Intent with a total annual value of 20 million. M2i has also been actively involved in the development of the human capital agenda of the topsector.

Successful
On January 16, the minister issued a statement that accompanied the innovation contracts, in which he announces that the industry – including many SMEs – and Dutch knowledge institutes are willing to invest 1.5 billion euro for research and innovation to create a sustainable economic growth. “The cooperation between industry, government and academia has been successful,” he said.

Verhagen also announced that industry and researchers plan to collaborate in topconsortia for innovation. Over a period of four years 500 million euro will be invested into these consortia, the contribution from industry will be at least 40%. From 2013 onwards, 90 million euro extra will be available from the government for industry and academia willing to participate in these topconsortia.

In the coming two months, the minister will finalize the innovation contracts and human capital agendas provided by the ten topsectors.
