M2i is an innovation program to develop and apply new and improved materials for industry. The key message of M2i is that high-tech materials are crucial to creating a sustainable society and achieving economic growth. M2i has built up an international network of prominent universities and leading companies to work together in a public–private partnership within the M2i program.
M2i is working on a broad range of materials with both structural and functional applications. Solutions are being found for the developiment of comfortable, safe, sustainable and user-friendly materials and production processes. We do not stop at a fundamental research project, but also ensure that the results can be applied in the industrial practice of our partners through a process of valorization.
A public-private partnership
M2i is supported by the Netherlands Ministry of Economic Affairs, Agriculture and Innovation and has become an excellent example of a public-private partnership. This approach allows M2i to keep the costs for the research and valorization activities very low, making it even more attractive for the industry to participate.
